Hackers infect WordPress 3.2.1 blogs to distribute TDSS rootkit

Hackers are compromising WordPress 3.2.1 blogs in order to infect their visitors with the notorious TDSS rootkit, according to researchers from Web security firm Websense.

It's not clear how the websites are being compromised, but there are publicly known exploits for vulnerabilities that affect WordPress 3.2.1, which is an older version of the popular blog publishing platform.

Porn app hides Trojan to target Android smartphones warns F-Secure

New malware targeting Android smartphones and mobile devices has been uncovered by F Secure.

The Trojan, which the security company has christened with the catchy name Trojan:Android/FakeRegSMS.B hides a PNG file that allows it to hijack a person's phone and send premium rate text messages.

Facebook sues Adscend Media for malware and spam

Facebook and the state of Washington have filed separate lawsuits against West Virginia-based Adscend Media LLC, alleging the company was responsible for spreading malware through Facebook and for stealing personal information from users of the social networking site.

Accused Kelihos spam botmaster: It wasn't me, Microsoft

The Russian man who Microsoft has accused of being the mastermind behind the Kelihos botnet has taken to his blog to deny the allegations.

"I did not commit this crime, [have] never participated in the management of botnets and any other similar programs and especially not extracted from it any benefit," Andrey Sabelnikov wrote Friday in a translated post on LiveJournal. The entry was directed to Microsoft and Kaspersky Labs, which also reportedly was involved in the takedown of Kelihos.

Intrusion detection offered as cloud package by Metaflows

Network security monitoring startup MetaFlows launched a new Software-as-a-Service product that can be installed on low-cost hardware to monitor network traffic flow, detect possible intrusions and analyse event logs.

The MetaFlows Security System (MSS) is composed of local software agents that can run on inexpensive off-the-shelf hardware and a cloud-based service where the results are stored.

Android Versions

We know what Google tells us about the number of devices on each platform.  We can also read server logs and get a pretty good idea of the versions of Android hitting the site.  But what better way to find out what versions of Android you guys are running than to ask?  We're not interested in the minor version numbers, just the platform version in general.  If you use more than one device, just answer for the one you use most to visit Android Central.

Firefox 10 lands in the Android Market, still doesn't support flash

Attention Firefox for Android users: You're going to want to head on over to the Android Market, as version 10 of Mozilla's browser is there waiting for you right now.

There is a couple of new features to report, the implementation of anti-aliasing for WebGL and support for accelerated layers via OpenGL ES. You also get a smattering of bug fixes, and improved Firefox sync setup. What is still noticeably lacking is support for Adobe Flash and other plugins. Samsung Galaxy S Advance coming to Three UK

Yesterday Samsung took the wraps off the Galaxy S Advance, a new mid-range device that fits somewhere between the Galaxy S and Galaxy S II in terms of hardware muscle. Now British network Three is the first to confirm that it'll be carrying the phone, though no firm release date is on offer just yet. For its part, Samsung has indicated that the Galaxy S Advance will be coming to Russia in February, with Europe and other territories following later in the year.
